He was born on 6th July 1966 as Brian Edmund Posehn, and grew up in the same town where he was born – Sacramento in California. Posehn is of mixed descent of German and Irish.

Brian finished from the Sonoma Valley High School in 1984 before attending the California State University, Sacramento.

Career

Brian Posehn began professional acting in 1994. He initially started with guest roles in television series, making his debut in an episode of the last season of Empty Nest (1988-1995). Following this, Brian also played a variety of roles on the HBO sketch comedy series, Mr. Show with Bob and David (1995-1998). He later played two different guest roles in Newsradio (1995-1999). He then appeared in two episodes of Ray Romano’s comedy show, Everybody Loves Raymond, in 1997 and 2001 respectively. Brian subsequently made his movie debut as a minor character in the 1998 movie, The Wedding Singer.

Posehn later played the recurring role of Kevin Liotta in Just Shoot Me! (1999-2003). From 2003 to 2009, he portrayed a mortician in Reno 911!. He also appeared in The Comedians of Comedy documentary in 2005. The same year, he portrayed the character of Jimmy in the horror movie, The Devil Rejects, followed by the role of Randy in Sleeping Dogs Lie (2006). He also released his first comedy (musical) album, Live In: Nerd Rage same year.

In 2007, Brian guest-starred in NBC’s improvisational series, Thank God You’re Here. He also featured in several movies and TV shows the same year including Smiley FaceUndead or Alive and subsequently, Human Giant (2007-2008), and The Sarah Silverman Program (2007-2010). In 2010, Posehn came out with his second comedy (non-musical) album, Fart And Wiener Jokes. He also appeared on Sym-Bionic Titan (2010-2011). Brian Posehn later featured on Anger Management from 2012 to 2013 before releasing his third comedy collection titled The Fartist in 2013. Between 2013 and 2018, he played the role of Bert Kibbler in The Big Bang Theory.

In addition to his onscreen appearances, Brian Posehn has also provided voices for characters in a number of TV shows including playing Jim’s voice in Mission Hill (1999-2002), Swanson’s in 3 South (2002-’06), Gibbons’ in Tom Goes To School (2005-’08), Crocco’s in Out of Jimmy’s Head (2007-2008), and many more.

Posehn has as well co-written some screen works such as the “Cahill” episode of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, “Wowschwitz” episode of The Sarah Silverman Program, among many others. He also co-wrote The Last Christmas, a comic book, published in 2006.
